Hi there ill have to get assistance re "post" not too hot on the pc.....ill try again....,firstly.. The window in the "Mixer tollbar issues" is not the same as Mine(the exception is the microphone)and i show only 2pictures!....
When i click on "Recording"there is a picture of a Microphone...which is highlighted...and underneath greyed out it says..SIgmatel High Definition Audio Codec...then , not plugged in !
Below the microphone there is a picture of a speaker which is highlighted , and greyed out is Usb audio device !..
WHen i highlight and right clickthe Microphone picture..a similar box appears as in the "Mixer toolbar issues" which is as follows:
HIghlighted..is DISABLE....SHOW DISABLE DEVICES...SHOW DISCONNECTED DEVICES...AND PROPERTIES.
Greyed out are ..SET AS DEFAULT DEVICES AND SET AS DEFAULT COMMUNICATION DEVICES.
When i highlight and right click on the speaker picture..the following are highlighted....CONFIGURE SPEECH RECOGNITION.....DISABLE...SHOW DISABLE DEVICES...SHOW DISCONNECTED DEVICES AND PROPERTIES...HOPE THIS IS A LITTLE CLEARER .

Hi i will have to ask for assistance here .i looked at the site you gave and.. held down the alt key and print screen , on the window (show devices etc)i was hoping to send but ..nothing happened .....as i said an old head is struggling.....ill get back asap...

Hi sorry about all the inconvenience ,however i purchased a uca-202 interface , it resolved most of the issues..however ,how when i am transfering from a digital recorder my own music..to enable to show each individual track so that i can adjust the highs and lows of the music...its probably simple but and old head takes time.....

There is a tutorial here (Splitting recordings into separate tracks) that covers the relevant procedures - the relevant part is where it talks about setting labels to mark the start of songs. The examples shown are using Audacity 1.2.6 and will look slightly different with 1.3.12, but the procedure is basically the same.
