How can I add a music jingle from one file to a new file

Post by silverfox63 » Sat Feb 16, 2008 9:23 am

Is it possible to add a short music jungle from one file and paste it into a new file, say at the beginning. Basically i have done an interview with someone but i want to place a short musical intro at the beginning of the interview and then fade it out and then I will start speaking. I did try it but the snippet of music i pasted in was a different speed to the interview and i did not know how to synchronize/blend them together.

thanks for any help.

If you have the jingle saved on your computer as an audio file:

Open Audacity and open your interview file.
"File->Save As" will create an Audacity project.
"Import" the Jingle - this will create a new track with the jingle on it.
Move the interview track along a bit with the "Time Shift tool" so that it starts in the correct place (after the jingle).
Adjust the volume and do any other editing on the audio tracks as needed (Hint: you can fade out the jingle using the "Envelope" Tool).
Use "File->Export" to export the mix as a normal audio file (for example as *.wav, or *.mp3 if you have LAME installed)
