Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Projects are very difficult to move.

Projects are clouds of files, not just one or two.

To move a project, you would have to move the AUP file, the _DATA folder with all the little AU files inside and all the original capture clips from your live musical performance and in their original folders.

If you edited your guitar performance by smashing two short performances together, for example, the AUP supervisory file tells Audacity to play the original sound file up to the cut point and then switch to the second sound file and play that. The first two AU files inside the _DATA folder draw the blue waveforms on the screen. If the original music files got left in a different computer by accident, the AUP file can't find them to recreate the edited show.

Projects are a lot more complicated and brittle than everybody thinks they are.

In general, if you want to move a performance, export as a single WAV sound file from your finished edit and move that.

Thanks M8 ;)

Think i'll export each track as .wav then. Becuase i don't really know where all the music parts are placed :S

But ain't there an other program which makes coping projekt much easier? What programs do you use when not Audacity and why do you like Audacity, if you do?

I use Audacity on Linux and Mac because I don't have anything else--and mostly for live capture, not editing. On the PC, I have a much more powerful software that I use for any serious (to me) work.

So I am actually tri-lingual. I can speak (badly) all three dialects of Audacity.

You may want to know that we are using two version old software. 1.3.x has been out in Beta form for a while now and 1.4.x is ready to be pushed out the door. Both of those have greatly improved tools and abilities.

G'day.

Okey fair enough

I'll be looking forward to try the new version 1,4. Will it be easier to move an aup. projekt with the new vertion 1,4?

Regards Mads
