Sometimes my audacity program will lock up the export option and other times it will lock up the effects. I know in order to use an effect I must have something selected but sometimes the effects are still greyed out. There has been many a time I have tried to export a song and it wouldn't let me. I have even tried to click on another part of the track to see if that would help and SOMETIMES it does and others it doesn't
Also, I tried to play my track today and it was silent. Do I have a bug in my download? I even tried to re-download it and it is still acting up. HELP!

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Sudden Unexplained Insanity on a Mac can mean you're running out of hard drive room. If you click on your hard drive icon and press Apple-I (for INFO) what does the panel say? My system drive right this second says
jimmyHD
Capacity: 74.21 GB
Available: 33.83 GB.
What are your numbers?
Are you running Leopard? Click Apple > About This Mac. Mine says 10.4.11 which means I'm running Tiger.

My computer says:
processor 1.9 GHz PowerPC G5
memory 512 MB
I can't figure out where it says how much memory I've used.

I hope you're looking in the wrong place. You should get a panel that looks like this:
http://www.kozco.com/audacity/jimmyInfo.jpg
"KB" is thousand bytes, "MB" is million bytes, and "GB" is billion bytes. That little disk drive icon in that picture should appear on your desktop somewhere.
Click on the little drive icon usually in the upper right of your desktop (but it doesn't have to be), and press Apple-I. You really need to do this and be aware of running out of room. A Mac will go crazy if you run out of room on your System Drive.
