I have encountered the following problem with trying to record a microphone connected via a Griffin imic2 USB audio adaptor.
I am operating a HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate (64bit). The machine has a Realtek High Definition Audio soundcard.
The problem occurs in Audacity 1.3.4.
Once plugged in the imic2 USB adaptor shows as a device in Audacity and I have selected this as the input. The device has also been enabled in the control panel and I have checked that the the soundcard drivers are the up to date. However no sound comes through.
Keeping the same settings and using Audacity 1.2.6. I do get a signal and I can record it. The fact that it works in 1.2.6. indicates that this isn't a soundcard or Vista problem but something in 1.3.4.
I have a number of projects in 1.3 and I'm finding the new features good so don't want to go back. Am I missing something?
USB device records in stable version but not beta

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: USB device records in stable version but not beta
I have no idea what the underlying problem is, sorry, but a good workaround would be to record in 1.2.6 and then edit in 1.3.
