Click remover works, but settings make no difference.

Hi, I'm using 1.3.4 on Vista Home Premium running on a 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo with 3GB of memory. I am ripping vinyl to WAV and MP3. Everything appears to work fine. Even the 'click removal' tool works. But no matter what
I change the settings to in click removal it appears to do the same amount of editing, no more, no less. I even used outrageous values figuring I would zap my recording, but it made no difference. I have some click (you may even call it hiss) I would like to try to remove that is not normally removed. This 'hiss' appears when the volume is loud, when the singer is singing their loudest, in the low volume parts the hiss is not evident. It would seem the Noise reduction tool would be better suited, but like I said the 'hiss' only occurs during high sound volume parts.

Thanks for any insights you can give me,

Using Audacity has prompted me to investigate MP3 formats, sound encoding, recording in general, RIAA encoding, Nyquist, history of LPs, and so on. I never had so much fun! :-)

Tim.
