Audacity dj mix recording mono problem
Hello Audacity,
A couple of weeks i ago i tried to record a dj mix with my laptop (vista) from my dj setup (pioneer). That just didn't work so i bought an m-audio usb interface. Now i can record in proper quality but i still got a problem. As soon as i hit the record button in Audacity it's clear that it's recording the mix MONO. Ofcourse i set the preferences to stereo.
Here are some screens:

What should i do ??? Please help me.

Re: Audacity dj mix recording mono problem
You should upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12, then you need to say which version of Windows you are using. If you are using Vista or Windows 7 there is a setting in the Windows Control Panel to set recording to mono/stereo (and it usually defaults to mono).
See here for some tips on using the Windows Control Panel: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panel

Re: Audacity dj mix recording mono problem
I don't use Vista or Windows 7 myself, so I'm just working from the documentation, but that third picture looks like the setting for recording stereo (I can't read Dutch either).
So what's happening now? Are you still only getting the recording on one side?
Have you checked the leads?

I still get it only on one side. Hope someone can help me with the problem.
Re: Audacity dj mix recording mono problem
If it's a lead problem there's nothing that we can do across the forum - you will need to check that out yourself. Depending on what leads you have you may be able to swap them around to check that they all work.

Re: Audacity dj mix recording mono problem
What do you mean with "a lead problem"? It's very weird that many people on the internet have the same mono recording problem and no-one has the solution. I set my preferences to stereo. Isn't there someone with an m audio external soundcard who has the same problem here??
Re: Audacity dj mix recording mono problem
What Steve means is that, if Windows and Audacity are both set up to record in stereo, the problem is most likely the connection between the deck and the M-audio. If you swap the two connectors at the input to the M-audio, do you get the sound on the other channel, or is it still the same?HoustonProbs wrote:What do you mean with "a lead problem"?
