Trouble recording a telephone interview

Post by AudaciousOne » Mon Jan 28, 2008 11:58 pm

Help needed for a newbie, please...

I did my first 'test' recording, by calling my mobile (which was in the next room) and talking to my voicemail (exciting !).
On playback, all was fine...albeit that the volume from the other phone was about 15% quieter than from the "main" phone that I was talking from. Still "audible enough", if not quite ideal.
Input sound was set to max.

Now to the real thing:
Same scenario...the person I was interviewing was on the same mobile, in the same place (next room). Input sound set to max.
On playback his voice was almost inaudible, mine was little better and there was a loud buzzing throughout the entire recording.

Any ideas what could be causing that?

(I'm on a G4 Powerbook; OSX 10.4.11)

Thanks

You carefully missed telling us all the good stuff.

What software, service, and connection are allowing you to talk to the cellphone in the next room? "Voicemail" doesn't let you talk to other users. iChatAV will not let you call a cellphone (that I know of).
