Whomper,
Sounds like it may be a setting in your video monitor which has gone haywire. Perhaps if you can find the monitor controls and do a reset to the factory defaults, it will help.

especially if nero gave it a nudge.
if not, windose 98 tends to forget settings and lose usb devices and drivers.
