How to download the lame_enc.dll

Lame File- how to make it work Go to [dead link removed by moderator]
Under Windows go to LAME download page
For Audacity on Windows:
Lame_v3.98.2_for_Audacity_on_Windows.exe
ZIP OPTION:
libmp3lame-win-3.98.2.zip
Download it as a zip file. Extract
Go to My Computer, Click onto the hard drive or C-Drive
Go to My Documents, and click onto download folder. Lame should be in the download folder.
Click on folder for lame, to get icon with cogwheels symbol.
Click open
You may have to follow above instructions (regarding opening of LAME) twice, but no more.
Click open audacity file that you made earlier: Name.aup.
Go to File and click open. Click onto Export as mp3.
Small screen will appear: Save mp3 file as. Click on Save
Another small screen will appear: Edit the ID3 Tags for MP3 File.
Under “Format” on this screen check off: ID3v1 (more compatible)
Fill out the information in this screen. If you can’t find what Genre, your music should be, highlight, Other.
Click on Okay and close out of audacity.
The mp3 file should appear on your desktop, or wherever you saved it. It is a white icon with a blue 8th note in the center. The name of your Windows OS should appear under it; i.e. Windows XP Title,mp3.

Hmmmm...I've been struggling with this for a while now, and even after following this sequence, it's still not letting me past the "Save mp3 file as" step. I still get only to the message saying I need LAME and asking if I want to locate it, and when I get to the "Where is lame_enc.dll" box and click "Open", I get the now familiar message, "Could not open mp3 encoding library!"

Nothing I try works with this. Any further suggestions out there?

Have you successfully downloaded the Zip version of Lame?
Where did you download it from?
Have you successfully extracted the "lame-enc.dll" file from the ZIP file?
Where did you put the "lame-enc.dll" file?
Which version of Audacity do you have?
Is this the first version of Audacity you have installed, or have you got, or ever had other versions of Audacity installed?
