I am using the software to convert my vinyl records into .wav files to use in my ipod. (Audacity 1.2.4) on WIndows XP
I have been having problems splitting these recordings into separate tracks.
I have been following the instructions and I am confident that I am doing the steps as outlined in the manual.
Whether I use “add label at selection” or use “add label at playback position”, I can not type a label immediately after choosing the selection at the end of the song. I have to click on the flag so the label can accept a typed word.
When I click on the flag, it results in making another track, so, when I export multiple tracks, I end up exporting, for example, 8 tracks when there are only 5 songs. The 3 extra tracks resulted from the extra click I made so I could type into the label.

Re: Splitting recordings into tracks
Click or select where you would like to place a label, and choose Add Label at Selection from the Project Menu, and a Label Track will be created automatically if one doesn't already exist. Start typing immediately to enter a name for the label.
I've never seen that happen - it doesn't on my computer.andymitchell wrote:When I click on the flag, it results in making another track
