Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Audacity doesn't know how to deal with a video file. Separate the sound portions into their own file and then open that.

To import audio from a video file, you first need to have Version 1.3 of Audacity.
The current Beta version, 1.3.11 is available here:
http://audacityteam.org/download/

You will also need to install the ffmpeg library which you can get from here:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... tallffmpeg

Once you have ffmpeg installed, Audacity (version 1.3) will import the audio from many video file formats, as well as increasing the range of audio formats which it will recognise, including WMA.
