What am I doing wrong--I have followed the direction for downloading the LAME plug in for the Mac so I can export as a MP3 file...when I try to export, it looks for the plug in and the plug in is grayed out. It is not a .sit file--I have deleted and downloaded again. And I have followed the directions exactly so I just don't know what to do. I want to be able to record and move the recordings to iTunes. I am running Leopard on an iMac.
I am running Audacity 1.2.5-pre (what does the 'pre' mean)
I have read everything in the previous thread. I have tried to put the libmp3lame.dylip file in to the applications-audacity but it wont allow me to do that.
Any help is appreciated.

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Downloading LAME plugin
Almost enough information.
If you select Apple > About this Mac, What does the Processor entry say?

Re: Downloading LAME plugin
I'm sure Koz will give you a full answer, but I've had the same problem, and my workround is to export the tracks as WAV files, which doesn't need an extra plugin, and then to get iTunes to convert them to AAC (the standard iTunes format) by selecting the track, and going to the ADVANCED menu. You can also set the track to export as AIFF from the Audacity FILE menu, which iTunes reads, and can also convert to AAC.
Hope this helps.

No. We're goin' with yours.
Oddly enough, we had a poster who changed preferences to AIFF and had trouble getting into iTunes that way. He followed my instructions to put Audacity back to Windows WAV PCM export and it worked perfectly.
No, I don't understand, either.
