Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Select and replace
To select a region of a track, Click and hold the left mouse button down and drag the pointer across the track, then release the button.
To replace the selected region with silence, go to the Edit menu and choose "Silence Audio".

Re: Select and replace
Hi stevethefiddle,
Thank you to recall the functions "basic" Audacity.
But my request was:
Starting from a selected template, how to search /replace / remove "AUTOMATICALLY" samples identical to the model, which are on this track?
(just like in a text editor...)
Best regards

Re: Select and replace
I'm not quite certain what you mean, but I think you are asking about the functionality described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Proposal_Audio_Diff
This is currently just a proposed feature, though a couple of developers have recently started working on it. I'm not aware of any other audio programs that have this feature, so if this eventually gets included in Audacity it will be a unique addition.

Hi stevethefiddle,
What I understand, this Proposed Feature (Audio_Diff) seems to correspond exactly to my request.
It would be a major asset for Audacity.
Patience ...

Re: Select and replace
Your patience could be rewarded later - my understanding is theat having a "Proposed Feature" in the Wiki has a much better chance of getting implemented than the long list of Feature Requests in the wiki - and this particular one does alrady have some developer backing I note - so keep your fingers crossed ...
