new to the forum and audacity, wondering how I can import mp3 from itunes for music intro to my podcast

If you have mp3 (and not AAC with Digital Rights Management), you just import them into Audacity.

what if aac rights mp3, do I need to convert to wav file?

AAC and mp3 are not the same - they are different types of compression. (different codecs)
If they are AAC and you can convert them to wav first, you should have no problem importing them.
