Hello -
I've read other posts with input issues and still can't get Audacity to recognize the MOTU. I'm running OS X 10.3.9 on an iBook G4. I've set the Mac's input to the MOTU and it registers on the Mac's level meter. I've set Audacity to the MOTU and "stereo" on the I/O tab, and set the sample rate to 44100 16-bit on the Quality tab.
But no audio signal reaches Audacity.
Thanks for feedback and the software!

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Is it stereo?
Did you restart Audacity? Sometimes you need that before system settings change.
That's Panther, isn't it? Which Audacity do you have? Audacity > About Audacity.

Can Audacity record anything else like the built-in microphone or the analog line-in?

Re: MOTU 828mkII Input issues
I have Audacity 1.2.6. Yes, I think OS X 10.3.9 is Panther. Yes, Audacity records audio from the built-in microphone.
I was having the same problem with Garageband, and resolved it by changing the Garageband input to match the input on the MOTU where the mic was going in (Channel 3). I don't see the same option in Audacity.
I'm fairly certain I'm not telling Audacity to look in the right place for the signal.
Again, many thanks!

There is another place to go looking for connection services...
Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. I generally don't like that one because it's too complicated for most users and it doesn't have a sound meter to verify what you did.
