DOES PAYING VERSION GIVE BETTER QUALITY WHEN CHANGING PITCH?

Post by nibory » Tue Dec 01, 2009 11:26 am

When changing the pitch of a track there is a reduction in the quality. Is there anyway of preventing this? Would the pay version of Audacity make it better?

Any clues anyone?

thanks

There is no paid-for version of Audacity - it is Open Source s/w that is availbel to all for free to download and use.

There are some unscrupulous folk out there in the Big-Bad-World who will try to charge you money for Audacity - IGNORE THEM !

<<<When changing the pitch of a track >>>

What track? Success with the "Change" tools depends a lot on the quality of the original work. Many posters try to do extensive track surgery with highly compressed work they downloaded. Compressed music works by "hiding" compression damage so most people can't hear it. The instant you change the music, all the compression errors pop up in addition to the damage the tool causes.

These tools work really well with very high quality uncompressed music you personally performed live and recorded with top quality data specifications.

Small changes in pitch tend to suffer less than large changes. Sometimes it is practical to use a bit of "change pitch" and a bit of "change speed". (the Change Speed effect changes both the pitch and the tempo, but the sound quality is not compromised).
