Recording in Mono only.

Post by Hanno39 » Thu Nov 12, 2009 12:59 pm

After working correct for months, Audacity now starts a mono track when recording. Until now I cannot find how to correct this. Opening a second track and joining them together to a stereo doesn't work, then recording only takes place in the last added (left) channel. Input source is 'line in' but selecting another e.g. 'stereo mixer' doesn't alter anything. Monitoring via phones during recording seems to be normal. I reinstalled the software, but the problem exists.
@moderator: I'm new here, I see I had to post this in section 'Windows', Can you move it?

In the menu, go to Edit > Preferences.
Select the Audio I/O tab. In the "Recording" section, you should have "Channels" set to "2 (Stereo)"

When you open a new track from the Project menu, be sure to click on "New Stereo Track", not "New Audio Track".
