How do I make it so Audacity will not open a new track while recording. I want to re-record on the same track just like you would a cassete player, and then manually open up a new track for recording when I need to.

Re: Recording Tracks
Record-Pause instead of Stop. Try this once to make sure you know the button sequences.
-- or --
Install Audacity 1.3. 1.3 has provision for Add-On Recording.
Transport > Append Record, or Shift-R.
You can have both Audacity versions on your computer as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2.
