Hello! I am another person having trouble hearing a recording. Based on your notes here, I went to check Win Media Player and... Surprise! It suddenly wouldn't play EITHER. (I just bought/attached an USB Turntable so's I could record vinyl to MP3/CD's). After much experimentation, I discovered the following: If I Unplug the USB Turntable, then Start (or Re-start) either Win Media PLayer or Audacity, then I can hear them Play - but I can't hear them if the turntable/USB is plugged in, or unless the "Playing" program is started up AFTER the USB is unplugged. (BTW, I have an Old Sony VAIO "Audio/Video" oriented PC which has been nothing but trouble on audio/video stuff <I can do things on IBM laptop at work that I can't on the Sony>).
Anyway, I can GET BY with unplugging/rebooting programs, I GUESS, but it's a royal Pain in the behind. Clearly, MY problem is not Audacity related... but do you have any ideas/suggestions for how I might solve the problem (Record AND Play using Audacity while the USB-Turntable is plugged in?)
Maybe an device address problem? (But I don't know how to FIX those...)
Any further help would be appreciated!
- Thanks,

(My apologies... I am using 1.3.9, but as Win Media Player has the same problem with the turntable, I'm positive it's not an Audacity or release problem anyway).
