computer audio recording help [newbie question]

i'm new to audacity and i recently wanted to record some audio from the computer [e.g. audio from youtube on lectures] but i don't know where or how to select the input or where to record from.I use a windows XP SP-3 edition. im kinda frustrated [cuz im a newbie] and i need help.

How easily you can do it depends to a large extent on your computer and sound card setup.
