Hi there! I'm using Windows VISTA. I am on Audacity 1.3.9 and I have already recorded a number of different pieces.
Now it is time for me record a second instrument on separate tracks.....while I am listening to the recorded music on Track 1. I have tried the following.....but it does NOT record my second instrument: Edit > Preferences > Recording > Overdub "ticked". I also tried the same setting with Software Playthrough "ticked". It is NOT recording my 2nd instrument! I'm very puzzled as it seemed to do this for me about 10 days ago.....without any problems! Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, Eddie.
Problem recording 2nd Track.

Try a test recording in a new project. Can you record at all?
If not, check your Widows Mixer settings.

Re: Problem recording 2nd Track.
Eddie, try the old stable version of audacity and see if the problem persists. In vista I have to right click that little speaker by the clock and select "recording devices" and set your line in to "preferred device". Hope that helps...
