problem with recording sounds comming out of my speakers

Post by immortal7792 » Tue Oct 30, 2007 5:44 pm

I used to just hit record waited till the end of the sound then stop it. Now though for some reason it has some fuzzy ambience and bad, very loud quality. Can someone help me by adjusting my settings or anything else. Thank you.

Let's see, this is the Windows forum. Did you plug your sound player into the MIC IN instead of the LINE IN by accident?

I'm assuming you're recording from something outside the computer?

If you're recording a streaming radio show, then you may have your sound panels set wrong. It's easy to set one of these sliders wrong by accident, although that's never, ever happened to me.

Hi there, I'm new here, I wanted to say that I'm having a similar problem after having to replace my mobo. I previously had an nvidia chipset but now have a via one. I replaced all the drivers and have installed the latest sound driver for the realtek alc660 hd onboard sound. The problem is that when I open audacity it all looks ok but where I used to select input now all i get are three options from the drop down menu: mic volume, cd volume and line volume. No matter what I do I can't get audacity to record anything. I followed the instructions on the wiki and made sure the sound input was selcted as being the realtek hd, but still no joy. I love audacity, it's great, I use it all the time! I can't do without it!!! Help!!!

Does anyone have any ideas?

How is this a similar problem?

pav, you need to select your input in the Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O menu.

If you can't find the input you want to use, then you need to make sure it's activated in your OS's driver software:

If you can't activate it, then your drivers don't allow you to use that input.

There's a small chance you can activate it manually, but I don't recommend this (see the last post here):

I was able to find a registry entry similar to that on my Dell, but I haven't tried changing anything since my computer works just fine.

If none of that works, then you need a new sound card with drivers that let you use that input.
