Can't record sound playing on speakers

Hi,
I had Audacity working just fine but due to disk failure on my Windows XP PC, I had to recover my PC, which lost all of my installed programs. I reinstalled Audacity and now when I try to record something playing through my PC, I get nothing. On the mixer toolbar, I have no options in the drop down. I can only record through a microphone.

When I go into Preferences > Audio I/O, under Recording, the only options I have under Device are Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input and Line-in/Mic-in.

Basically, I'm trying to grab some audio that is playing on my Pinnacle movie editing software and use it as an intro to a podcast that I've already recorded. I looked around the Wiki site and can't find anything there that helps me.

Kept digging and figured this out. My PC has "RealTek HD Audio Manager" on my toolbar. I found a setting on the "mixer" for Record that was turned off. Turned it on and all is well.

Can you not "Export" the audio from the Pinnacle software and "Import" it into Audacity? If you can do that the sound quality will be better, and it will be a lot quicker to do.

Do you mean that you too cannot record into Audacity from Pibnnacle -or do you really have a different problem?
