I do a lot of recording and editing in Audacity, and I compress my projects as an .ogg file. I use .ogg because almost every programme on my computer can recognize it. I loaded Audacity and edited a song, clicked the "Export" button and it saved the song as a normal "File" that none of my programmes can read.
I am using version 1.3.8 (.8) because I needed to use the FFmpeg library for a few things. (In my opinion, 1.3.8 has more bugs and problems than 1.3.6 (.6) (the better version that I used).)
With version .6 I could just click the "Save compressed copy of project" and it will compress it to an .ogg with no problem. Now with v.8 I need to go down to export and find .ogg in the list, and now it won't compress to a file that my other programmes can read. If I go to "Save compressed copy of project" in .8 then it will save as an .aup.
For a while I haven't had any problems with .8, but now it won't compress to .ogg. Is there something wrong with Audacity or my computer? Or my settings?

Re: Ogg Vorbis doesn't work
Use "Save Compressed Copy of Project" if you want an Audacity Project with the audio tracks in Ogg format, and use "Export" if you want a single Ogg file.
