I'm having trouble downloading ACX Check plug-in

Post by Brianwatson410 » Mon Jun 07, 2021 10:04 pm

Hi,

I am trying to download the Nyquist ACX Check plug-in, but every time I try I get a message that says the file cannot be opened either because this type of file is not supported or it may be damaged. How can I fix this? I tried opening it as a Word file instead of Adobe Acrobat Reader and the file seems to open that way, but when I look for plug-ins in Audacity I can't find ACX Check listed anywhere. What am I doing wrong? I am using Windows 10 and Audacity 3.0., if that helps.

You don't open or run a Nyquist plugin. You install it.

Tools > Nyquist Plugin Installer...

After it gets done,

Analyze > Add/Remove Plugins > ACX Check > Enable > OK.

Don't forget the Enable step.

Select your work. Analyze > ACX Check.

DB values work like this.

Noise is the one that drives home audiobook readers nuts. Good luck.

Do Not read the whole book and only then try to "fix it" to pass standards. Read a short segment and see if you can make that work. If you can't, post back.

Found it. This is what ACX Check looks like if you do everything perfectly. It passes ACX/Audible sound standards.
