Recording from a USB Cassette capture device

Post by Mhernandez0818 » Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:50 pm

I bought a USB cassette capture device and it came with the Audacity program. I installed the program and connected the device to my laptop. I am trying to record a cassette of my dad singing so that I can burn it onto a CD and I have gone through all the Audacity manual, but I can't seem to find the answer to my problem. So the cassette recording isn't being picked up by Audacity, all Audacity is recording is all the sound in the room. I am not really tech savvy, so I am sure I am doing something wrong. I am just trying to be careful with the cassette because it is the only recording of my dad singing by himself (he passed away in February). Any help would be so appreciated!

Make sure you've selected the USB device as your Recoding Device.
all Audacity is recording is all the sound in the room
You're recording from the mic built-into your laptop. ;)

The odds are you have an older version which may be OK but the current version is 3.0.2, and it's free so you can upgrade.
