help- exporting as MP3 not WAV format

I can only currently export songs i record in audacity as WAV format. I want to export them as MP3 instead but when i try that i get the following error message and i cannot get past it and/or fix it:

LAME library
obtain - download
Lame_enc.dll
then locate this file for audacity.

Basically, what do i have to do so i can export my songs from audacity as MP3 not WAV?

you need to also download the LAME MP3 encoder with audacity if you want to export Mp3 files.

Go to the below link if you are using windows and you will see it in the optional download section

If your using Beta then go here and do the same
http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Once youve got this when you export to mp3 it will come up with a pop up box that you only have to fill out once, after that you should have no problems.

thanks. I followed your instructions and was able to ( i think) download Lame but when i tried to export as MP3 i was still unable to do sa and am still getting the same message as before and it also says "cannot locate lame library". What now?

DId you download it into the same folder that audacity is in or a different one?

i guess it's in a separate folder from audacity. I don't believe i was given a choice as to where to download it. I think it's in a zip file right now, but not sure? How can i locate this file for audacity to use?
