Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

turn cassette into cd records just one looong track

Post by maria86004 » Tue Jul 28, 2009 9:28 pm

I figured out how to hook up the tape player to the mac and record in audacity.
I exported it and it was one long file. Is there an easy way to divide it up into tracks?

Yes. While the one, long performance is on the timeline, put a Label (Apple-B) at the beginning of each song you want as a stand-alone music file.

When you're done, File > Export Multiple, and Audacity will create a pile of individual files for you.

Drag the pile into iTunes, create a PlayList, pull them into the playlist and burn the playlist to a CD.
