Apologies for dropping off this thread after my initial replies. A rather hectic few weeks due to one thing or another...
This is still happening for me with 3.0.0 and has become a real annoyance so I've had no choice but to downgrade back to 2.4.2.
Before downgrading I spent some time trying the various "Tools > Reset Config + Roaming folder/CFG files deletion" steps suggested by other contributors but as soon as I re-launch 3.0.0 the "Automatic Crash Recovery" window is back with a vengeance. It is then a lottery whether Audacity will work correctly after that regardless of what I choose. It's not re-creatable in a pure sense, the only constant is you will get the "Automatic Crash Recovery" 9 times out of 10. It never goes away.
When I close 3.0.0 on the rare occasions I've managed to use it correctly and choose "No, don't save the project" this just prompts more "Automatic Crash Recovery" alerts upon next launch.
If I choose "Yes, save the project" and create a dummy project file on say, my Desktop the Automatic Crash Recovery goes away for perhaps one further launch, but then is quickly back after that.
Happy to continue helping with the troubleshooting but it's just baffling as I haven't had this issue with any previous Audacity versions. I'm working in 2.4.2 now and it's just like night and day when compared to 3.0.0
