Audacity InternalPortAudio Error

Post by JasonMama » Mon Mar 08, 2021 3:16 pm

Hello, I'm new here.
So I've been using audacity for a while now,
And suddenly audacity just gives me the no audio devices found. I have other software
and they all work except audacity.
Here are some logs below.
Thanks!

If you reboot your computer and then launch Audacity, does it see your sound card / audio device?
What is your sound card / audio device?

So if things still aren't working, you can try the desperation move:

1) Close Audacity
2) In File Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Roaming
==> note AppData is a hidden file, so if you do not see it, follow these instructions which vary depending on which version of Windows you have: Show hidden files
3) In your C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Roaming directory, rename the "audacity" directory to something else, say "audacity-hold".
4) Restart Audacity

I hope this helps. :D

It is possible that some device you have connected is causing problems for Audacity. Do you have any unusual devices connected, e.g., bluetooth headphones or a Droidcam ?

Click on the search window on your Windows taskbar near the magnifying glass. Type in "mmsys.cpl". Click on the Recording tab and make a note of all of the devices listed. Then click on the Playback tab and do the same.

Hi. Sorry to bust in here, but I'm having a very similar problem. I'm setting up my studio and getting ready to go, but can't get Audacity to recognize my new mic. It's INFURIATING! After updating all of my drivers and switching my USB cord and then the port into which I was plugging it, I FINALLY got Windows to recognize that the mic was plugged in. I tested the mic in the settings panel and everything's good. When I opened Audacity, however, I get the same error and haven't been able to get past it. I'm running windows 10 and when I go into the sound settings, here is what I found:

RECORDING TAB:

Internal AUX Jack
DFX Audio Enhancer
(Disabled)

Microphone
Realtek High Definition Audio
(Disabled, unplugged)

Line In
Realtek High Definition Audio
(Disabled, unplugged)

Stereo Mix
Realtek High Definition Audio
(Ready)

Microphone
Yeti X
(Default Device)

PLAYBACK TAB:

Speakers
DFX Audio Enhancer
(Disabled)

NVIDIA Output
NVIDIA High Definition Audio
(Not plugged in)

VZ239
NVIDIA High Definition Audio
(Ready)

Speakers
Yeti X
(Ready)

Any ideas what the issue could be? I'd rather not just delete DFX from my system, if I can avoid doing that, but if that's what's causing the issue, then DFX is gone!

My guess (this is what I would check first):

1. Completely remove the DFX software. I think this is the No.1 suspect.

2. No.2 suspect: NVIDIA.
Is this HDMI audio?
I'd try disabling the NVIDIA audio and enabling the Realtek High Definition Audio.
