Importing MP4 to convert. Crashes it if larger than 2 hours

Hi Guys,

I’m having trouble importing any Mp4 files larger than 2 hours into Audacity. It just crashes.

I’ve installed the FF-Mpeg convertor files and 2 hours is fine.

Any help appriecated.

Thanks

That shouldn’t happen… The only format that I know of that has built-in limitations is WAV which has a 4GB limit.

…I have a long (3 or 4 hour) MP3 concert file and I’ll convert it to M4A to see if I can duplicate your issue.

No problem for me. I just created and then re-imported an M4A almost 4 hours long (over 500MB). There’s probably something “wrong” with your file… Hopefully something minor…

You might try converting the file to WAV or FLAC with another program before importing into Audacity. If you don’t have an application for that, try Kabuu Audio Converter or TAudioConverter

How much free space is there on your C: drive?

I will try clearing it out, thanks fr the reply.

Fixed it, should’ve thought of that. Thanks
