Hello,
I haver been using Audacity for a couple of years to record music at home.
Today i faced a problem for the first time- i have recorded three tracks and when i add the fourth track, i am unable to record from the beginning of the track.
When i try to record using Shift+R, then the recording is very muted.
I have windows 10 and Audacity 2.4.2
I have a Microsoft Surface Pro-6 with an i5 intel processor. And there are no pending updates to Windows.
What is going wrong here?

You can have Audacity always "record on a new track" by ticking that box in preferences ...
