Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at

are you helping out in this forum
Everybody is helping out on this forum. It's all voluntary. It's not a help desk.
You took what I said out of context...
I said...
Do you own a Mac, or are you helping out in this forum and just winging it?
In other words, I asked you if you own a Macintosh or if you are just guessing how Macs work.
If you own a Mac, I'd encourage you to try out Loopback as it seems to eliminate the need for all of the hardwiring gymnastics you do.
Just my 2 cents...
