I spend a sit of time trying to get the two to be at the same location.
This is not the home/end operation that brings me to the beginning or end of the track.
Is there a magic secret keyboard key set to send the mouse cursor to the record/playback point? [SOLVED]

Unfortunately it doesn't.
Do you mean that when you stop playback, you want the edit cursor position to move to the position that play had reached? If so, then the key is "x".
