Audacity Not Responding on Save

Post by Jan » Sun Oct 21, 2007 3:20 pm

This has happened to me numerous times now, can anyone please shed any light on why it's happening?

If you want system information can you please tell me how to find it?

Thanks.

Normally happens when you have not Stopped the recording - if it's just in Pause mode it won't Save.

Thanks for that WaxCylinder but I'm pretty sure I pressed the stop button at the top.

You can always try exporting the project as a WAV file - as that can then be re-imported into Audacity later. But only ok if you are working with a single stereo track - otherwise the multitracks will be merged on export.

Audacity enables you to work with mutiple tracks - normally recorded one at a time and then later blend them together into a single stereo track with on left and one right channel (this is similar to what sound engineers do with multi-track tape and mixing decks).

If all you are doing is making a simple recording of say an LP or tape - then you are likely only ever to have one stereo track in Audacity - with the two waveforms one left channel t'other right channel.

If you are making your own music , then you are most likely to be using multi-tracking - one for drums, one for guitar, one for voice etc and then later merging these into a final mix. In Audacity this can be done by using the Mix&Render command - alternatively when you Export to WAV/MP3/Ogg the Audaity will automatically render the mutli-tracks mixing them down to a single stereo pair. This effectively gives you the ability to do stuff that in the past needed very expensive studio equipment to do.

Your middle option is what I'm doing WC.

Bought the USB turntable from QVC and am now playing with it. It's swings and roundabouts really.

With the crashing on Not Responding I've made some okay transfers and then lost them and the replacement ones sound very loud but tinny, I'm doing something wrong, that is only on one of the eight tracks though.

The record will be worn out by the time I get it done okay.

I had a problem with it not showing as stereo but found a solution via the forum that worked, I was looking at the back of the record sleeve with a magnifier just to see if was meant to be stereo, LOL.
