I'm on Windows 10 on a 64 bit processor using Audacity 2.4.1. I'm trying to use a plugin called Permut8, part of the Sonic Charge bundle. I can see the vst inside Audacity but I can't enable it. All I get is this error message. Is it somehow related to me being on a 64 bit machine?

I'm not positive, but I think you need to have the 32 bit version of the plugin as Audacity is a 32 bit program. Maybe you are trying to read the 64 bit .dll.

Or... Some plug-ins don't support Audacity. Usually the plug-in developer supplies a list of officially-supported hosts. (Or with free plug-ins it's usually hit-or-miss and you just have to try it.)

Sorry, I'm not sure I was clear in my post. Yes, I see that you have a 64-bit machine and Audacity is a 32-bit program, and that is fine. But I don't think Audacity can process a 64-bit plugin - I believe the plugins need to be 32-bit. And I think Permut8 comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit. So I was thinking you might be trying to access the 64 bit version of the plugin when it should be a 32-bit version. But as DVDdoug said, some plugins just don't work with Audacity.

Correct. Audacity (for Windows) ONLY works with 32-bit plug-ins.I believe the plugins need to be 32-bit.
