I need to re-record about a 5 minute section on a 20 min recording. I'm trying not to have to re-record the whole thing but can't figure out how to re-record the section and then substitute the new for the old.
Any suggestions?

Re: replacing a section of recording
I know I have to open a second track and record the changed section thereon.
But two areas have me stumped:
1. when do I erase the initial version (about 4 mins worth of deathless prose)? Now ? ... or after I've made the new recording and moved it up on the original track?
2. and once I make the new recording on the new track, how do I get it up onto the original track?
Probably stupid questions but nevertheless ................................
