Monitoring Input While Recording

Post by FatCattheGreat » Tue Jun 02, 2020 7:12 pm

Forgive such a simple question; I am a newbie to Audacity. I want to monitor the input from a device while I am recording it. I am sure there must be a button to click but I can't find it. Input is through the on-line audio port (Realtek) from a turntable through a pre-amp. Computer running Windows 10 (64). Help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [X] Playthrough.

Both of the Audacity sound meters should jump and if you have headphones or a speaker system connected and selected they should wake up.

There is a caution. The sound will not be perfectly timed with the turntable. The delay or echo will change with your computer.
