WAVEFORM CHANGES WHEN MERGING TRACKS??

Post by T.M.A. » Tue Jun 02, 2020 1:59 pm

Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that the waveform changes when you merge tracks together??

I've been cutting and splicing my tracks and leaving them un-merged when I bounce them down because I swear the sound changes along with the visual change...

Someone chime in here...

Thanks!

We need more detail about what you're doing.

If "merging" means mixing (so two or more sounds play at the same time), yes of course that changes the waveform and it gets "louder" and you can get clipping (distortion) if you go over 0dB.

With basic cutting & splicing, the untouched part of the audio shouldn't get changed.

Actually, yeah -All I'm doing is cutting and splicing. If I cut a section and splice it to another one, the waveform of the section that I cut and spliced changes. It's waveform changes visually and the sound of that section changes. I'm going to run another test this afternoon...
