export mp3

hey im a new user and am trying to cut down a full mp3 of about to 30 seconds to a minute and save it onto my pc whats the best way step to step to doing this ive tried a few diffrent ways but dont know if i am doing it correctly or not.

I don't think I can follow that. You have a minute long MP3 that you want to edit down to half-minute and save it on your PC? Say it again and use different words.

Here are two things you might be trying to do....

Option 1) Make a copy of just a short part of an mp3. This will be shorter in time, and smaller in file size.
Option 2) Make a copy of a complete mp3, but with the file size smaller. This will be the full music track length but lower sound quality.

Quick How-To-Do ....

Option 1) Open mp3 in Audacity. Select just the part you want.
Then use menu File / Export Selection as mp3

Option 2) Open mp3 in Audacity. Set a low bit rate for conversion by using Edit / Preferences / File Formats / Bit Rate.
Then use menu File / Export as mp3.
