Help for Audacity on Windows.

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Amplification

Does the Amplify effect also add any kind of unwanted noise? (even the slightest bit) ?

All the signal is amplified equally, including the sounds you don't want.
So amplify can make what was faint sound more obvious,
but amplify did not create noise, it was there all the time, just at an inconspicuously low level.
