Forum rules
This forum is for Audacity on macOS 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at
https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the
1.2.x and
1.3.x forums.

hello, I hope your doing well, I have the same problem, my aud file won't open. I tried what you said my proname is the original, is there any thing else that I can do please help me.
So is this an aup file or an aud file? .aud files are used with a totally different application.
Sometimes, it also helps to make sure that the name of the directory file has "_data" at the end of it; and that this agrees with the name specified within the .aup file.
I hope this helps.
BTW, we shouldn't have this issue with the next release of Audacity, due to be released this quarter.
