Where is 'Replay Gain' in V. 2.3.2

Post by Norm Mast » Sun Apr 12, 2020 12:40 pm

I need to even out various vol levels in multiple tracks. Everything I see involves using ReplayGain...I don't find it in my version here. WHere is it? Or what else can I do?

The "real" ReplayGain is built into some media players (for example "Foobar2000" https://www.foobar2000.org/)
Media players from Apple (such as iTunes and iPads) have a similar feature called "Sound Check".

Some years ago I wrote a kind of "normalizing" plug-in that uses the ReplayGain algorithm so that it can normalize to a specified "loudness". That plug-in is available here: viewtopic.php?p=167758#p167758
This is a "Nyquist plug-in". Installation instructions for Windows are here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/ins ... st_install

I see the 'normalize' function...will need to play with that some. I tried it earlier without success....maybe doing something wrong here..?

Just make sure you are using the Normalize option of the ReplayGain plug-in. The regular Normalize effect is peak-amplitude normalization which does not work well for loudness matching.

OK...since I do not see Replay Gain showing up anywhere...looked in the Effects drop down tab...then will I need to download this plugin first?
