MAKING A GRID IN AUDACITY FOR TEMPO CHANGES???
Hey All!
I'm recording songs with several tempo changes in Audacity. I want to make sure everything is exact because I will be sending these stems to a friend in another state to record over them, likely in Pro-Tools. I am currently cutting and splicing the different click tracks where the changes happen. The method feels exact and seamless, but I don't know that it's "Pro-Tools Grid Exact" if you know what i'm saying...
Is there a way to make sure all the tempo changes are "grid exact" in Audacity?
Thanks,
-T

Re: MAKING A GRID IN AUDACITY FOR TEMPO CHANGES???
I presume that the "grid" that you are referring to has divisions on beats and bars?
If that's the case, there's a plug-in for generating labels at beats and bars. viewtopic.php?p=155621#p155621
Once you've generated the labels, you can line up your edits with the labels.
The label generator plug-in is a "Nyquist" plug-in. Up to date instructions for installing Nyquist plug-ins: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/ins ... st_install

Re: MAKING A GRID IN AUDACITY FOR TEMPO CHANGES???
Yes! I think that's exactly what I'm talking about! -Something that will ensure that when I change from 77 bpms to 100 bpms for example, that the bar for the new tempo change will fall exactly where it needs to and not slightly before or after that...I presume that the "grid" that you are referring to has divisions on beats and bars?
Gonna go ahead and check these links and let you know!
Thanks!

Re: MAKING A GRID IN AUDACITY FOR TEMPO CHANGES???
Okay, so yeah... The labeling of the new tempo is not the problem (I can do that with the "beat finder" tool under ANALYZE...). What I'm looking for is a way to make certain that the new tempo is changing exactly when it needs to change and not a liiiitle bit before or a liiiitle bit after... But, perhaps what I'm doing currently is good enough? It's pretty exact already, as I'm just cutting of the last beat with the selection tool and pasting the new BPM right there...

Re: MAKING A GRID IN AUDACITY FOR TEMPO CHANGES???
That's why I suggested the "BPM Labels" plug-in. It places labels at exactly the specified tempo.

Okay, yeah -Not finding the link to the specific plug-in however... This Nyquist thing is complicated! Ha!That's why I suggested the "BPM Labels" plug-in. It places labels at exactly the specified tempo.

Is it this?:
bmp-labels.ny
Not working on my end for some reason...
Found this, but not seeing the BPM label plug-in there:

GOT IT!!
Whew! That was rough, but I got it!
-Downloaded the Nyquist plug in from the conversation link you sent me...
-Then dragged and dropped it into the "Plug-ins" folder in the audacity program files via the C-Drive...
AND IT FRICKEN WORKS LIKE A DREAM! YES! DOES EXACTLY WHAT I WANT IT TO!!!
LONG LIVE AUDACITY!!!!
Is there a page where I can donate?
