Latest, most up-to-date instructions needed.
The work-throughs to record audio on Audacity don't work. I've done the Soundflowerbed/sound prefs/terminal bits and none works reliably. I was able to get it all working once, last weekend, but not since. Is anything in the pipeline to permanently and easily fix this?
Re: Latest, most up-to-date instructions needed.
It works for me with Audacity 2.3.2 on Catalina 10.15.1. I've not tried Audacity 2.3.3 yet (Catalina just finished updating 5 mins ago).
I've not tested yet, but I don't expect Soundflowerbed to work as it is obsolete.
Audacity 2.4.0 is due to be released fairly early 2020, which should fix the Catalina issues for Audacity.
We have no association with the makers of Soundflower.

I've tried it now.
When I first tried launching Audacity, I got a message saying that Audacity could not be opened because the author could not be verified.
To fix that,
- I used "control + click" on the icon in the dock, and then selected "open".
- When prompted, I confirmed that I wanted to run Audacity
- Then I quit Audacity

Thank you. Does Audacity 2.3.3 have any 32/64 bit problems?
Re: Latest, most up-to-date instructions needed.
Audacity 2.3.3 is a 64-bit app. It requires a 64-bit version of macOS.

Thanks. Pretty sure Catalina is 64-bit. Mac made a big thing out of letting users know certain apps wouldn’t work without upgrading from 32. At this point I may wait for the new Audacity due out soon(hopefully). Doing otherwise is not worth the aggravation.

Maybe not quite enough words. MacOS has been 64 bit for a long time.
That's 10.9.5.
Catalina's trick is it's only 64-bit. Under those conditions, as an example, my off-air "TV Set" will stop working. That's one tiny example why I'm not breaking down the door to upgrade.

Gotcha. It’s a little late for those of us who have upgraded already.

In other words, all of them likely to be useful. "Frances" is an 11 year old Mac and has 64-bit compatible architecture. I should try the install later.Audacity 2.3.3 is a 64-bit app. It requires a 64-bit version of macOS.
