Allow multichannel export after effects chain.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to batch apply some effects to about 40 individual 5.1 wav files and then export them back to wav with the chain feature but Audacity seems to only allow multichannel export for individual wav files whereas it automatically exports all 5.1 to mono when I use the chain feature.
Could it be possible to implement 5.1 (or any multichannel configuration) export with the effects chain feature

Moderator note: Chains have been replaced by Macros for the past couple of Audacity releases - and enhanced in the process.
