Audacity 1.2.6 and Mac OSX 10.4.10
Hi Folks,
I am running Mac OSX 10.4.10 on a 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 with 1GB DDR SDRAM.
I seem to have successfully downloaded Audacity 1.2.6 (the desktop has an Audacity 1.2.6 11.4 MB drive icon and also an icon showing "audacity-macosx-ppc-1.2.6.dmg".
When I double-click the dmg icon, instead of having the package move into "Applications" (as I expected to happen), I get a Finder window with the six items: Audacity.app; Languages Folder; License.txt; Readme.txt; nyquist folder; and plugins folder.
What further should I do to complete the installation process - before I get rid of the .dmg icon and unmount the 11.4 MB drive icon?
Thanks and Regards

Half way home.
Create a fresh folder on the desktop called Audacity. Pull that folder over to your /Applications folder in the Systems Drive. Then pull all the files and folders from the temporarily mounted desktop drive over to this new folder.
Done. Launch Audacity by double clicking the application file, or drag the application file over to your dock which will create a dock shortcut.
I personally keep and back up all my .dmg files along with any installation notes in case my System Drive goes south. I don't have to go to a million web sites looking for all my applications again. I put copies of all my keys and purchase notes in there, too.

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Mac OSX 10.4.10
Hi Koz - Thanks for that! I am now .75 way home...
The program starts when I click on the Audacity.app file
But... when I click on "Help" (to get some detailed guidance on how it functions) I get a window headed: "Where is Audacity - 1.2 - help.htb ?"
And that directory-style window has a button called "Enable" with the text: "HTML Help Books (*.htb)" in it. It offers me the opportunity to show it which directory, folder and file contains the help but I cannot find that myself, either!
So... where is the help and how do I get it to function?
Thanks again for your assistance!

I get "page not found." And I can't find the audacity-1.2-help.htb file in any other Mac release either - including the 1.3.3 beta. Any idea where I can get a copy?kozikowski wrote:[urlhttp://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=423[/url]

I'm still hoping to find the .htb file somewhere for Mac!
Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Mac OSX 10.4.10
That's because the file is no longer there.storyleader wrote:Thanks. The link at topic 423, m http://audacityteam.org/files/a ... 6-test.dmg m , gives "Page Not Found."
The file that was there previously was not a .htb file, it was a .dmg file
I managed to track down one of the files:
audacity-macosx-intel-1.2.6-test.dmg
no sign of:
audacity-macosx-ppc-1.2.6-test.dmg
(from the name of the files, I guess they were a bit "experimental".
The current manuals are available in various forms from here:

Hooray! The "...test.dmg" file you tracked down contains audacity-1.2-help.htb . That is what I was looking for.stevethefiddle wrote: The file that was there previously was not a .htb file, it was a .dmg file

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Mac OSX 10.4.10
Audacity 1.2.5 (stable) for MacOS intel still is missing the audacity-1.2-help.htb help file.
Audacity 1.2.6a (stable) for MacOS PPC has the help file with version 1.2.6.
http://audacityteam.org/latest/audacity ... 1.2.6a.dmg
Mount the dmg file and drag the audacity-1.2-help.htb file into the Audacity 1.2.5 folder.
