My stuff quit recording

Help for Audacity on Windows.

My stuff quit recording

2.2.1 thru audio box usb, windows 10, Walmart HP, condenser mikes. probably just need to reload don't know. Every time I try to record now, symbol turns red and dosent move. Settings seam to be right. any ideas of what I have done. Thought I knew this program and settings. I have had no computer problems and no other programs are affected. any ideas

Audacity 2.2.1 is obsolete. The current version is 2.3.1 and is available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/

My guess it that you have WASAPI selected as the audio "host" in the device toolbar.
Try changing that to MME, and select the "audio box usb" as the recording device. The playback device should be set to whatever audio device you are using for playback.

unplugged , removed batteries, turned of all electrical recording and play back systems, took a leak grabbed a frosty, restarted, looked at all the instruments that deserve to be played better than I can. it all works
