What date was the recording?
Is there a way to find what date a project file was recorded? (Not necessarily the date it was saved) Is this information to be found somewhere?
Re: What date was the recording?
The recording date is not added by Audacity.
You can get the date it was saved from the file modification date (on most systems this is available via "right click > file properties").
If you wish to make a record of the recording date, you could add that information to the metadata, but you have to do that yourself (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/met ... ditor.html)

Re: What date was the recording?
Thank you for the answer Steve. I should learn to save my recordings when they are finished and not sit on them for days before saving.
Re: What date was the recording?
Audacity does have a feature that may be useful if you want to keep a record of the recording date / time. There's a setting in Preferences: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/rec ... ences.html
Note that when using the System Time and/or System Date options, these settings only apply to new tracks that are created automatically when you start a recording. The time/date formats are designed to be safe for using as filenames.

Re: What date was the recording?
Why don't you just add a label at the start of the project with the date & time if that is important ?
Then when you re-open the project you will see that data.

Re: What date was the recording?
These are timer recordings...preset to activate at a pre-determined time of day. After setting up the timer, I have not found a way to name the recording until after it has finished recording. If you know how to name it first I'd appreciate knowing how as well. Thanks!

Re: What date was the recording?
So set it up before tou set up the Timer Record - a couple of options
1) Save the (empty) project with a date/time in the project name before setting the TR up - you may well than want to check "on" the automatic Save on TR completion (and maybe even a WAV export - I always do both for safety).
2) You can label the empty project - just type Ctrl + B (on Mac Cmd + B) and a label track will be created with a label in it.
If you do 2) you will still have to Save the project as TR will not work with unsaved projects.
